The Federal Record Corporation was chartered in 1917 in Albany, New York to continue production of Indestructible cylinders after the latter's previous parent company was litigated into oblivion. Attention quickly turned to developing disc records at the expense of cylinders and a line was launched in 1919. After Federal's factory burned down in 1922 it outsourced manufacturing to the Scranton Button Company, minus cylinders. Disc production lasted only two years more.
